As the time for filing returns approaches, every tax payer needs to start accumulating receipts that shall offer them deduction.
One of the most common documents in such respect is the LIC Premium Paid Certificate for whole financial year.
Section 80C of the Income Tax Act specifically mentions tax payers can claims a deduction for payment of LIC premium while computing their taxable income.
However, necessary certificate needs not be attached with the income tax return now.
But you must keep it in your record to show the officer while going through any income tax scrutiny in the future.
As a tax payer, one can have their LIC Premium payment certificate through 3 ways-
- Ask for the LIC Agent to supply it
- Ask the branch office to supply it
- Get it yourself within few minutes via the website
The fastest and most trusted way is to get the certificate from self with the help of LIC’s website. Here is what you need to do-
Step 1 – Get yourself registered for e-Service on LIC’s website
LIC offers online assistance to its members. As a member, you can register with their e-Service and later on login using your ID and password. For this purpose, you would be required to furnish you mobile number, PAN Card, Aadhaar card, LIC account details.

Step 2 – Log in into your LIC e-Service account
With your existing login User ID and Password, enter the e-Services section and proceed. Follow the route – My App -> Basic Service -> Proceed. Under basic service option there are numerous value-added services that are offered, including, claim status, policy premium paid statements, etc.
Step 3 – Select ‘Policy Premium Paid Statement’
From the list of options, select ‘Policy Premium Paid Statement’. Upon clicking, you would be shown a list of “policy premium paid statement”. Form this list, select the one that you wish to generate.
Step 4 – Generate the certificate
Upon selecting the required certificate, simply click on ‘Generate Statement’ for generating a PDF version of LIC Premium Paid Certificate.
You can either to take a print out of the same or keep it in digital format and later on attach with your return. However, make sure that the pop-up blocker is enabled on your browser.
